The total enrollment of grades 9-12 is limited by our charter. The enrollment preferences of the school are governed by state law. All students will be considered for admission without regard to disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic that is contained in the definition of hate crimes set forth in Section 422.55 of the Penal Code, including immigration status, or any other characteristic protected by law, or association with persons with any of these characteristics. Students will be selected for enrollment based on local criteria set by the Charter.
The Nuview Bridge Early College High School’s admission requirements are designed in conjunction with our partner colleges to support our early college program. Students applying for Nuview Bridge Early College High School must demonstrate a commitment to academics. In compliance with our partner colleges, the Nuview Bridge Early College High School requires a GPA higher than a 2.5 with no “F” grades in their courses to attend college classes. This requirement is a minimum and might be higher with some college programs. In addition to the above requirements Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth grade applicants cannot be credit deficient and must have a good standing record in the year prior to their enrollment at NBECHS.
NBECHS is non-sectarian in its programs, admissions policies, employment practices, and all other operations, shall not charge tuition, and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. NBECHS will reach out, recruit, and strive to enroll children of families of diverse race, culture, economic, and educational backgrounds to promote a balanced and diverse student body reflective of the district, community, and surrounding areas. NBECHS expects families to understand and support the school’s mission, vision, and educational philosophy.
If the number of applicants that meet the locally determined qualifications exceeds the number of available openings per grade level, a lottery will be held. Using a lottery as a method of selection is required by California law.
If a lottery is required, it will be used to determine who is eligible to register for the new school year and who will be placed on the wait list. The lottery process includes preferences that are granted per the Charter language and a public random drawing to be held on the first school business Friday on or after April 1st.
If the school receives a number of applications that exceeds the number of available spaces, a public random drawing will be held, with preference for available spaces given to students in the following order until capacity is reached. If available space remains after preferences are assigned, the lottery must occur for all other remaining and all other California residents that have applied by the deadline:
In the event that a random lottery does occur then the wait list will be determined by continuing to draw names in numerical order beyond the pre-stated capacity number until every name is accounted for from the applications that were turned in by the deadline. All applications turned in after the deadline will be added to the wait list on a first come first serve basis. Preference for the waiting list will be given in the order waitlisted immediately upon an opening becoming available.
